It was a dog's day night at The White House Correspondents' Association Dinner as President Barack Obama kept the dog jokes alive while guests checked their dinner plates.

"What's the difference between a soccer mom and a pit bull?" he asked. "A pit bull is delicious."

"Everyone is predicting a nasty election and we have all agreed that families are off-limits," Obama said. "Dogs are apparently fair game."

Expect the canine thing to follow both GOP Candidate Mitt Romney and Obama on the campaign trial.

Celebrities, politicians, journalists were roasted and toasted by comedian Jimmy Kimmel.

Best line of the evening was on the dust up in Columbia with the Secret Service:

Kimmel told the Secret Service that for $800, he would stay away from jokes about the scandal.

"But they only offered $30," he said.
