A mystical bud....

The bites may be small in the signature "little steamed parcels of deliciousness" at Ping Pong Dim Sum, but the flavor is anything but miniature.......and not just in food, but the cocktails as well.

This week the restaurant unveiled their new summer cocktail creations and proved over and over the type of bite you can infuse into a drink with the right mix.

The UK based chain which has two DC locations, one in Chinatown (rounding out its third year) and one in Dupont (coming up on 9 months) melds an eclectic bunch of flavors to classic drinks to represent their classic Asian flair.

The new libations included plays on a mint julep, a Manhattan and the summery Moscow mule, all with far east taste additions. The Manhattan included plum wine, the julep topped with star anise and the mule was practically a salad in a glass with a mountain of fresh ginger to add a pungent zing to every sip.

Possibly the biggest head turner of the day was the Tennessee Electric Tea, a mix of Coca-Cola, Jack Daniels and Triple Sec, topped with a Szechuan bottom bud, a mystical flower that numbs your taste buds when you chew it, adding a unique rush to every gulp from the glass.

As long as the weather gets hotter, we know at least one spot to cool off for the afternoon.
