NBC Correspondent Andrea Mitchell addressed the packed, pink-clad house
of supporters at the annual Newsbabes Bash, held this year at the Howard
Theatre, talking candidly about her own diagnosis with breast cancer.
Mitchell revealed the condition at the end of one of her news
programs in September 2011.
She told the crowd that she felt she
was almost out of place speaking on the topic since there were others
who have endured so much more than her in the struggle against the
disease.
Mitchell's cancer was caught early and as a result she didn't
require chemotherapy or radiation.
She shared though that the early detection was
key in hers and so many other cases, and that was why it was critical to
support the GW Mobile Mammography Unit, the charitable beneficiary of
Newsbabes.
