Niteside caught up with stylist Sam Kavenchy during his dress rehearsal for his annual spring look runway show. The question he might not have seen coming: What do you think about teen pop star Justin Bieber's 'do?

We're glad to hear that Kavenchy (pictured, above) approves of Bieber's hair, because according to Life & Style, the Bieb's 'do costs upwards of $750 per cut... every two weeks. 

Compare that to John Edwards' notorious $1,250 haircut, though, and it’s a bargain -- although in all fairness to Edwards, that $1,250 included airfare.

Ellen and Edith: Secret Lives of Wilson's First Ladies

 

There were two first ladies in the life of President Woodrow Wilson. Ellen, the first Mrs. Wilson, died after a year and a half in the White House. Edith became the second Mrs. Wilson, and thus the second first lady of Woodrow Wilson.

Over time, our fascination with the first ladies has become a national sport. Perhaps it was the oldest daughter of Theodore Roosevelt who got the ball rolling.  Rumor has it that Alice buried a voodoo doll of succeeding First Lady Nellie Taft in the front yard. That's the kind of thing that piques your interest, after all.

The best place to get a date in Washington last night was on Capitol Hill at the State of The Union Address; just ask Reps. Peter King (R-N.Y.) and Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) who did their part in promoting the idea by sitting together, although we doubt they held hands. They, of course, were the "couple" that made national news on how Date Night should work. Niteside explored the phenomenon a step further at reception hosted by the National Journal.

The night before the State of the Union address marked an emotional evening for Ron Reagan, whose book "Ron Reagan: My Father at 100," was honored at a party at the Jefferson Hotel. His anecdotes of growing up as the son of a governor were amusing; his recollections on the possibility that the president showed signs of Alzheimer's more serious.

Ron Reagan celebrated the launch of his book "Ron Reagan: May Father at 100" at The Jefferson Hotel on Monday night, hosted by Connie Milstein, J.C. de La Haye Saint Hilaire, Tammy Haddad and Ted Greenberg.

Most of the guests had firsthand knowledge of the president, as either reporters, colleagues or friends. Niteside caught up with a few who were willing to address the controversial issue as to whether the president had Alzheimer's while in office, a constant sidebar of gossip in Washington circles.

The Daily Caller 'Never Needs an Excuse to Party'

 

Tucker Carlson (pictured above) and  Neil Patel of The Daily Caller hosted a party at Top of the Hill Thursday night to "get acquainted with the new members of Congress and their aides." 

As to whether any new members were actually there was anyone’s guess, but no one seemed to mind as long as  "Tucka" was there.

Tucka, as he's affectionately called, is the founder of The Daily Caller; Neil Patel is former chief policy adviser to Vice President Dick Cheney and their invite motto was "As always, The Daily Caller staff never needs a big excuse to party."

Steve Clemons and Grover Norquist are an unlikely alliance, but they teamed up to discuss U.S. strategy in Afghanistan at an exclusive Salon dinner at Nora’s Restaurant.

Clemons is the indefatigable foreign policy wonk at the New America Foundation and publisher of the popular Washington Note. Norquist spreads his influence via the advocacy group Americans for Tax Reform. What they both focus on is what is or isn't happening in Afghanistan, with Norquist weighing in from the tax angle. The war is costing the U.S. taxpayers nearly $100 billion per year.

The Day of the Three Kings, and One Constitution

The Constitution was read from the floor of the House yesterday while a 'birther' crashed the party, yelled at members and was subsequently arrested.

By the end of the reading, which had its own glitches, the chamber was practically empty. This leads us to the focus of conversation at last night’s party at Cuba Libre Restaurant and Rum Bar, hosted by the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts and Washington Life Magazine.

FREAKY: For anyone who follows political and cultural shenanigans might think that MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-host Willie Geist was talking about Washington in his book, “American Freak Show,” but he’s not.   He’s talking about the other freak show: Snooki, Tiger Woods, Fidel Castro, Sarah Palin, Lindsey Lohan, “Blago” and Eliot Spitzer.

“American Freak Show – well, we live in it everyday. We may not know it, but we’re all unwitting participants – actors, extras – walking in the background of the freak show,” said Geist at a powerful A-list book party at the home of Norah O’Donnell and Geoff Tracy.

“One year ago, you didn’t know who Snooki was. Now it feels like she’s part of the family. Snooki perfectly represents the American Freak show: talent no longer requisite to become famous. Just have a little attitude, stuff yourself in your dress, get drunk on TV and you’ve got yourself a career,” he added.
On the even younger generation he says “I try to stay away from attacking teenagers, if possible, but in the second volume of ‘American Freak Show,’ I’m coming after Justin Bieber.  He’s corrupting the tweens of this country.”

Guests included Maureen Dowd, Pat and Shelly Buchanan, Jonathan Capehart, Maureen Orth, Luke Russert and Karen Finney.

Filmmakers Dan Mirvish and Eitan Gorlin (think Laurel and Hardy as politicos playing off of each other), who perpetuated a media hoax during the 2008 election campaign under the guise of political operatives and parlayed their experience into a book called “I Am Eisenstadt: One Man’s (Wildly Inappropriate) Adventures with the Last Republicans”, are  revving up their game. The book launch party in D.C. earlier this year was held at the home of Joe Lockhart, press secretary during the President Bill Clinton adminstration.

Gorlin, who was stranded in D.C. yesterday due to the snow storm, dished to Niteside about how their collabortion evolved.

Kevin Spacey Says Many Critics of Jack Abramoff Are Hypocrites
