It was a busy stage at the Ritz Carlton ballroom when diplomats were honored at the Ambassadors Ball to benefit the National Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Norah O’Donnell ably emceed, the ARPAN Kathak Dance Academy and the Kardelen Turkish Dance Ensemble performed and awards were bestowed. Legislative leaders, philanthropists and leaders of the business community made up the audience, and were good customers of the silent auction audience.

Co-Chairs were Amy Upton and Lisa Collis, and the awardees were Senator Kay Hagan of North Carolina, Senator Johnny Isakson, Representative Barbara Lee of California’s 9th Congressional District, and Representative Kevin McCarthy of California’s 22nd district. All four have been leaders in legislation that will ultimately aid victims of Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological diseases.

The evening was a success, thanks to the work of the  two Co-chairs and the Diplomatic Co-Chair Esther Coopersmith, who has served as the U.S. representative to the United Nations.

Star attraction of the silent auction was a Golden Labrador puppy, whose contribution was to bring in $3,500 for the cause. The excellent dinner of seared tuna, filet Mignon and a sinful chocolate dessert didn’t hurt either, nor did the music of The Wright Touch, which kept the crowd dancing.
