The Corner of Modern and Classic

by contributor Brendan Kownacki

Style took top billing on Wednesday night for the HMX Group as they opened the doors to their newest store, Streets of Georgetown, on Wisconsin Avenue.  The gentleman’s clothier welcomed famed designer Joseph Abboud and CEO Doug Williams for the affair to showcase the newest looks the store had to offer.

The fashionable crowd mingled throughout the store, noshing on autumn themed bites from Chef Todd Gray of Equinox and sipping cocktails as everyone picked out their favorite styles.

Abboud, who first started working in the fashion industry when he was 16, chatted with guests and offered his own expertise on fashion and style.

He was quick to dismiss the idea that Washington is a poorly dressed city as some people have labeled it because of its suit and tie culture. “If people have options, they’ll find something good” he added, emphasizing that it’s about style choices. “Fashion is where you find it.”
