Put your money where your mouth is...

by contributor Yoonjeon Oh

Hosted by Guy Lambert, Korto Momolu (Celebrity Fashion Designer), Renee Nash, Anji Corley and April Watts, the Colours of Sickle Cell event was held at the Riot Act Comedy Theatre.  The founder of the benefit fashion show is local actress and model Jamarias A. Malone who was born with sickle cell.

Even though the disease is the most common inherited blood disorder in the US, it does not get the attention it needs.  The show was aimed at building awareness and educating the local community about the disease.

Events were followed by a Red Carpet, educational social hour and a live music performance featuring sickle cell patient singer Crystal Ki followed by a fashion show crafted by local Fashion Designer Studios D'Maxsi, Timbro Collections, Red Hue Boutique and Heydari.
Proceeds benefited the national headquarters of the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America.
