The Social State of the Union

It’s that time of year; everyone is reflecting on what the last 12 months have brought and somewhere off in the distance Santa is trying to decide who has been naughty or nice as the holidays creep up.

Santa isn’t the only one making a list though; DC social diary Guest of a Guest has also been gathering a list of the best and brightest to form its “DC Hot Hundred”.

The listees are described as “most in-demand Washington socials, aged 30 and under” and includes athletes (Nicklas Backstrom, Devon McTavish), media (Tommy McFly, Luke Russert, Britt McHenry), business leaders (Tim O’Shaughnessy, Fritz Brogan) and a cast of characters who are undeniable staples of the social, business and philanthropy circles in Washington.

The resident ‘Guest of the Guest’ for DC, site editor Sophie Pyle gathered the honorees and a supporting group of well wishers with an energetic celebration over the weekend at downtown disco Opera.

Guests sipped on cocktails mixed with the new low-cal vodka, Voli and paraded across Opera’s signature round dance floor.

It was a gathering themed for luxury.  For the Hot Hundred, it was all about the best of the best—slurping on Tasti D-Lite yogurt as the night wore on coming to and fro the party in the newly launched Uber sedan service, which provided rides for listees.

It’s almost certain that much like the State of the Union, someone on the list needed to stay away from the party in case of catastrophe so we would know who to look to when it comes to start next year’s list.
