Day of Infamy.......

Official Movie Poster

If there's such a thing as an academy award for art imitating life, The Ides of March wins hands down  -  catch it before it leaves town.

Had it not been for the outstanding cast that included George Clooney, Ryan Gosling, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood, you would think you were watching the 2012 presidential campaign and it comes complete with snippets of Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews doing their thing.

As Washingtonians, this political thriller directed and written by Clooney, Grant Heslov and Beau Willimon as an adaptation of Willimon's 2008 play Farragut North, hits so close to home you may want to review your K Street friendships.

As for the political friendships thing, keep in mind that Julius Caesar's bloody assassination was on March 15, 44 B.C. and forever marked March 15 as the Ides of March i.e. a day of infamy.
