"This seems more like a nightclub than hotel" remarked one guest who was bopping to the beats of the DJ and looking for a peek of the Thievery pair. "I've never seen the hotel so lively."

It was a turn-out crowd on Thursday evening at the Renaissance Dupont Circle Hotel when DJ Duo Thievery Corporation stopped by for a pre-show set prior to their sold out show at DC's famed 9:30 club.

Also appearing to hype up the crowd was DJ Pleasuremaker who rocked the hotel bar as a part of Renaissance's RLife Live music series.

The appearance is a trip home for the Grammy Award nominated duo who actually came together in 1995 at local night club Eighteenth Street Lounge. The club is co-owned by Eric Hilton of Thievery who joined up with Rob Garza over a mutual love music and it was history in the making.

Thievery has created six studio albums, three compilations, and numerous EP's and singles. which have jolted them to popularity in the dance and electronica music scene. Their music brings together a unique mix of many musical styles including reggae, jazz and even classic to perfect their signature sound.

Guests sipped cocktails, sampled passed appetizers and danced to the music which filled the whole hotel and spilled out into the streets of Dupont.
