Guests will be in for a treat on November 5th when musical duo AM and Shawn Lee descend onto the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel for a special performance as a part of the RLife LIVE concert series. The collaborative duo blends a mix of 60s and 70s euro soundtracks with an updated flare that would rock any audience.
Their sound is very deliberate, trying to bring a current flavor with a vintage feeling. AM recounts meeting Lee after being attracted to a track he heard on the radio and believing that a collaboration would make sense. "We bonded over this obscure music we love" said AM as he described putting their debut album Celestial Electric together remotely; sending files back and forth with the London based Lee. "Shawn laid down a cool beat and I wrote over it in about five minutes," he said about the first song from the record.
The pair, who have toured independently and together, recently wrapped appearances on the road with Thievery Corporation which AM describes as "a well organized party" that felt at times like "a traveling drug yoga circus". The road stops included the famed Greek Theater. The pair hopes to highlight "lost gems from the past" with their signature sound.
The duo will kick off the RLife series in the lounge of the Renaissance from 6-8 on November 5th and the concert series will continue everything Thursday through December 15th.
The RLife LIVE series is free and open to the public.
