The chatter has begun for the upcoming Metropolitan Cooking and Entertaining Show, set to land in D.C. on November 5-6 with a host of special guests.
Event founder Denise Medved announced on Monday that alongside high profile chefs Paula Deen, Guy Fieri and a host of other James Beard winners and nominees, the event will also play host for more than 2,500 military spouses as a part of a program called “Project Home Cooking.” Expected to appear will be Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Martin Dempsey, as well as Dr. Jill Biden.
On the heels of the announcement to kick off the upcoming festivities for the show, acclaimed French chef Jacques Pépin appeared via Skype at the cocktail reception to get the crowd excited.

“I think it’s my first time in my life on Skype” said Pépin to the jovial crowd. He was greeted in-turn by friend and fellow chef Michel Richard who stood at the ready, initially speaking French. Richard lead a toast for the room and then Pépin answered questions from the crowd of media, fans and foodies.

Also on hand were mixologists from both Jose Andres' ThinkFoodGroup and host restaurant PS 7 serving specialty cocktails and wearing boxing gloves to represent the upcoming cocktail throwdown they will compete in at the food show. The face off will celebrate the revival of classic cocktails with categories that include the old fashioned and fantasy drinks.
