Springtime
was in full bloom on Tuesday when guests flooded the historic Mayflower
Hotel for the sixth annual Pink Tie Party as a launch for the
centennial National Cherry Blossom festival.
Party goers wore their poshest
pastels and sported their boldest neons as the whole hotel was decked out
in PINK.
Dozens of local restaurants lined the grand hallway
serving up their most spring-tastic dishes, including offerings from Art
and Soul, Equinox, Lincoln, SEI, and Zaytinya.
Chef Jose Andres |
Chef hosts for the
evening, José Andrés and Roy Yamaguchi, captivated guests and shared
stories to the crowd and welcomed the powerhouse of culinary talent that
was joining them for the pink affair.
The decor was pink, the clothes were pink, even the
drinks...all to celebrate 100 years of DC's signature same-colored
flowers. This year's festival marks a celebration of 100 years ago when
3,000 cherry trees were gifted to DC from Tokyo.
Guests sipped and mingled and as the night wore on transitioned from eating to a decidedly more dance themed celebration.
Spring is in the air and we're dressed and ready for it.
